MAD Ideas Spring Events Schedule Begins Feb. 1

Back to Upstate Institute News and Announcements

The MAD Ideas lecture series continues this spring, offering free events for the Madison County community presented by local experts from area colleges and universities, through Cornell Cooperative Extension Madison County. The lecture series โ€” supported by funding from the Upstate Institute โ€” brings top thinkers to share their ideas and research. It spans a wide variety of topics, including agriculture, health, youth development, and ecological sustainability.

The first event of the spring welcomes Rachel White, a child psychologist and associate professor of psychology at Hamilton College. White examines the development of self-control from the preschool years through adolescence. She is particularly interested in how children use play and other imaginative strategies and will discuss at 6:00 p.m. on Feb. 1 at the Hamilton Public Library.

Additional MAD Ideas events for spring 2024:

  • March 7: with environmental anthropologist and naturalist Keith Tidball.
  • April 11: with Chris Scalzo, a business professor at SUNY Morrisville.
