�þ���Ƶ’s annual QueerFest kicks off tonight, with a keynote speech by Mia McKenzie, a writer, blogger, speaker, and performer whose work touches on intersections of race, class, gender, and sexuality. McKenzie’s blog, Black Girl Dangerous, has received national and international recognition. She takes the stage tonight at 7:00 p.m. in Love Auditorium.

Party balloons can no longer be taken for granted: there’s a worldwide shortage of helium. Prices quadrupled between 2000 and 2012, according to the U.S. Government Accountability Office. But a new helium-recovery system will put �þ���Ƶ’s science laboratories at the forefront of efforts to conserve the dwindling supply of this increasingly expensive gas.

I know this is the week before spring break, but as you cram for exams remember to take advantage of a needed diversion now and again and enjoy an exciting event on campus. On Wednesday at 4:30 p.m. Ann Louise Bardach will discuss “With or Without Fidel: What’s Next for Cuba?” at Love Auditorium.

It’s the start of a new month, and Outdoor Education Spring PE sign-up is alive again. From caving and bouldering to kayaking and paddle boarding, classes will begin after spring break.
