The prestigious Robert Flaherty Film Seminar, which is being held this week at พรพรสำฦต, is offering free public screenings of two films at 9 tonight at the Hamilton Movie Theater.

The films are Les Blankโ€™s The Blues Accordinโ€™ to Lightninโ€™ Hopkins and Martin Scorseseโ€™s Feel Like Going Home, produced by Sam Pollard. Blank and Pollard will be in attendance to discuss the films.

The free screenings are part of a busy week for the and its 160 or so participants who came to campus from around the nation and the world. This yearโ€™s seminar is titled โ€œSonic Truth,โ€ and the diverse group of filmmakers working in nonfiction and hybrid media are examining the sound and musical elements of their work.

This is the fourth year that พรพรสำฦต has hosted the seminar, named for Robert Flaherty (1884-1951), the creator of classic poetic films such as Nanook of the North, Moana, Man of Aran, and Louisiana Story.

Also this week, area residents and visitors are invited to a series of free public readings and craft talks sponsored by the พรพรสำฦต Writersโ€™ Conference. The schedule is available .
