�þ���Ƶ’s associate vice president for emergency management, campus safety, and environmental health and safety has another title when he isn’t on campus: U.S. Air Force master sergeant.

Joe Hernon, associate vice president for campus safety, emergency management, and environmental health and safety, is working with other veterans on campus to create a new affinity group to bring together military veterans from across campus for comradery and support.

When �þ���Ƶ Director of Facilities Operations Jason Wallace isn’t coordinating the University’s army of custodial and maintenance staff, he is leading about 11,000 United States Army Corps of Engineers as a newly decorated brigadier general in the 416th Theater Engineer Command.

�þ���Ƶ and Service to School (S2S) are proud to announce a new partnership through the Service to School VetLink Program. �þ���Ƶ joins 21 prestigious institutions committed to transforming higher education and college access for student veterans.

This Veterans Day, �þ���Ƶ is paying tribute to the men and women of America’s armed forces. The university wants to thank alumni, parents, and current students who have served their country — and the numerous alumni who work on behalf of veterans, helping them transition back to civilian life.

Starting this fall, qualified military veterans can attend �þ���Ƶ tuition-free, thanks to an agreement between the university and the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA). The university will take part in the new Yellow Ribbon Program, a component of the Post-9/11 GI Bill, which makes earning a college degree more affordable for veterans.
